Ben's Blues Part 4

In this last lesson we will focus on improvisation. You'll learn how to vocalize rhythms and create licks out of scale blocks. We will cover both the blues scale and minor pentatonic scale. I'll also show you how to use play/rest to build a solo.

Ben's Blues - Melody With Bassline

In this lesson we will focus on putting the melody together with the bassline.

Ben's Blues Part 1

The key to being a good jazz pianist is knowing how to switch between chords, basslines and other accompaniment patterns quickly. In this first lesson we will be focusing on bassline creation using an original 12-bar blues song "Ben's Blues."

Ben's Blues Part 2

In this next lesson we will be adding on the melody to the blues song "Ben's Blues." If you want, you can skip this lesson and come back to it later. Learning the melody for this song is optional.

Ben's Blues Part 3

This is the lesson where we learn how to play rootless chords and apply them to the bassline. You'll learn about syncopation and different chord comping techniques.

Hand Coordination Technique for Improv

The techniques in this lesson are a great way to improve your improvisation.
