Recent Site Updates:
Nov 6th at 12:51pm - There is a new \"Prep Lesson\" feature which you will see on certain classes. In the class listing it will state if there is a prep lesson. A prep lesson is just that, a short lesson to get you ready for the class or event.
You can use partial words when searching.

Some students have encountered difficulties with having their piano clearly heard during live Zoom sessions. To improve the audio quality and ensure that the full range of sound is transmitted, it is highly recommended to enable the "Original Sound for Musicians" setting in Zoom. This feature is designed to bypass Zoom's default noise suppression, which often distorts or cuts off musical instruments.

Steps to Enable "Original Sound for Musicians":

  1. Open Zoom and sign in to your account.
  2. Go to Settings by clicking on the gear icon in the upper right corner.
  3. Navigate to the Audio section.
  4. Under Music and Professional Audio, check the box for Show in-meeting option to enable Original Sound.
  5. Additionally, check High fidelity music mode and Stereo audio if your setup supports it.
  6. When you start your meeting, you'll see an option in the top left corner to enable Original Sound for Musicians. Click it to activate.

By following these steps, your piano's sound will be transmitted more clearly, ensuring a better experience for you and your audience.

There are many live sessions that happen throughout the month at Jazzedge Academy.

We use Zoom software for our live sessions. Download Zoom (it's free).

You can share your playing during these sessions by:

  1. Upload your video to Youtube (learn how)
  2. Copy the Youtube URL and paste it into the Zoom chat (learn how)

Can I submit my comments or video ahead of time?

We require students to join live to ask questions or receive feedback to ensure fairness and active engagement. However, students can log on during the live session, ask their question or post their video for feedback, and then leave if needed, knowing they can watch the replay later.

This approach encourages real-time participation while allowing flexibility for those who can't stay for the entire session. It ensures that everyone gets equal opportunities for feedback without prioritizing pre-submissions, and maintains the integrity of live interactions, fostering a more dynamic and inclusive learning environment.
