Our Jazzedge resident drummer, Mike Marble, will be challenging your rhythm skills in this live training session. He will work with you on rhythm sight-reading and how to best interpret and perform all different types of rhythms. Rhythm is the backbone of music, and without good rhythm and time your playing will sound lackluster.

These ongoing live training sessions with Mike will both challenge and inspire your playing.

Come ask your questions about rhythm, working with drummers, drumming or playing with a group. Mike has an expansive pedigree of performances with a wide range of musicians and performing multiple different styles of music ranging from jazz and rock to blues and funk.

In this lesson, I’ll teach you how to improvise over the standard Autumn Leaves. I’ll also show you different practicing tricks to make it easier to learn the song and the improvisation. Many students ask me “What do I start with and where do I go from there?” I’m going to lay this out so you have a “plan of attack” to make it easier to learn these important concepts!

"Rockin' Around the Christmas Tree" is a Christmas song written by Johnny Marks and recorded by Brenda Lee in 1958. This popular Christmas classic will be a great addition to your repertoire.

Anna will be working both singers and non-singers to feel more confident using their voice in their art.

As a pianist and Berklee grad herself, Anna will be there to help students overcome the fear and frustration surrounding playing the piano and singing at the same time. Anna will also give feedback and direction to anyone aiming to improve upon their singing skills, even if they are absolute beginners. All levels are welcome to attend.
