Teaching piano online since 2000
Right now our members are learning blues
We rebuilt Jazzedge Academy around one question: what should you sit down and practice today? Pick the path you want to play and the answer is waiting on your dashboard — nine paths, twelve lessons each, starting with a five-minute practice action instead of a two-hour lecture.
$24/month. Cancel any time. No contract.
Willie Myette — founder and teacher. Teaching piano online since 2000.
You're not locked in — switch paths whenever you want, and you keep access to all of them either way. Every path has a Beginner and an Intermediate+ level, six lessons each. Click any one to see the full lesson list, the running times, and a free practice action you can play right now.
No sign-up to look around.
Foundation → Focus → Depth
Most piano sites hand you a library and wish you luck. This one tells you what to sit down and do.
1 — Foundation
Chords, scales and technique in all twelve keys. Twelve steps per level, every key tracked on its own. This is the part nobody else has, and the part that makes everything else easier.
41 levels · 492 targets
2 — Focus
Pick a path and short videos appear on your dashboard — around five minutes, one clear job each. Not a lesson to get through. Something to go and do at the piano tonight.
108 videos · avg 5 min
3 — Depth
Each practice action opens into the complete lesson behind it. Go as deep as you want, when you want — or come back to it on a Saturday when you have an hour.
12 lessons per path · 8 to 14 hours behind each one
The reason most memberships don't stick isn't price. It's logging in on day two and having no idea what to do. Here's day two.
Day 1
Blues, jazz, rock, funk, technique — whatever you came here to play. Two minutes.
Day 2
You don't go hunting. The ones for your level — beginner or intermediate-plus — are already there, in order, about five minutes each.
Day 3
Light gamification, no nagging. You can see the week you just had instead of guessing at it.
Day 4
J.ai is trained on every lesson, so you ask it about the one in front of you and get an answer about that lesson — not a general web search. No waiting until Willie's next live session.
Day 5
That's the point. The short one gets you to the piano; the long one is there when you want more.
Day 7
Which, if you're honest, is more than the last three apps you tried.
One membership. One price. Nothing else to buy.
117
The nine paths plus the rest of the Focus library, searchable by level, style, key and teacher.
108
Twelve per path, six beginner and six intermediate-plus. Short on purpose.
41
The Jazzedge Practice Curriculum. 492 individual targets, each tracked separately.
Other adult players. Share what you're working on, get feedback, stay accountable to someone other than yourself.
Throughout the year, in the room with Willie. Ask the thing you've been stuck on.
Stuck halfway through? Ask. J.ai is trained on each lesson individually, so the answer is about what you're actually watching.
Log what you played, see your streak, earn the odd badge. Enough game to make it fun, not enough to make it silly.
Keep a list of what you can actually play, what you're working on, and what you want next — so when someone says "play something," you have an answer.
Your dashboard opens on where you left off. No hunting through a menu to find the thing you were halfway through yesterday.
$24 a month, and that's the whole offer — about what one lesson with a local teacher costs, for a year of them. 9 practice paths, 117 lessons, the technique curriculum, J.ai on every lesson, the community and the live sessions. No tiers to decode, nothing else to buy. Cancel in two clicks, any time, and there's a 30-day money-back guarantee if it isn't for you.
Questions
No, and this is built for exactly that. Most members here are adults with jobs, and the whole system is designed around short, focused practice rather than hours a day — five minutes done properly beats an hour of drifting. You are not competing with anyone.
A practice action is about five minutes, and one of them is a complete session. If you have twenty minutes, do a few. If you have an hour, the full lesson sits underneath each one. The point is that a short session still counts and still moves you forward, so a busy week does not undo a good month.
No. Reading is taught along the way and the notation is on screen when it helps, but you are shown what to play and where your hands go. Plenty of members arrive not reading and pick it up as they go.
No. Jazz is where Willie came from, but the library runs to blues, gospel, rock, pop, Latin, cocktail piano and standards, and the technique work underneath is the same whatever you want to play. Pick the path for what you actually want to play.
A five-minute video that teaches you one thing and then sends you to the piano to do it — with the complete lesson it came from sitting underneath, for the night you want more. There are 108 of them, across 9 paths.
The technique spine: 41 levels, each practiced in all twelve keys and tracked one key at a time — 492 individual targets rather than a checkbox on a scales lesson. Every membership level includes it. Finish a level in all twelve keys and you can send it in to be graded, with written feedback.
Willie does, in writing, on your playing — not a forum reply and not a score out of ten. A finished curriculum level can be sent in for grading at every membership level.
Yes, whenever you like, and you do not lose anything by doing it. You keep access to all of them either way — the path you pick decides what is waiting on your dashboard, not what you are allowed to open.
The unit of work is a five-minute practice action that replaces the lesson rather than supplementing it, so you always know what to do tonight — and your playing gets looked at by a person, which is the part that turns watching into playing.
A piano or a keyboard and something to watch on. Weighted keys are nicer and 88 of them are nicer still, but people start on far less and do fine. Everything works on a phone, a tablet or the laptop on the piano.
Yes, from your own account, whenever you like — there is no phone call and no retention script. Membership is month to month unless you choose yearly. Refund terms are in the Terms and Conditions linked in the footer.
The 30-Day Playbook is free and yours to keep — thirty days, one thing to practice each day, no card. The practice action on each path page is free too, and it is the complete thing, not a preview. Start free — the 30-Day Playbook
